The B’nai Tzedek Youth Philanthropy program is designed to introduce teenagers to the value and rewards of tzedakah and becoming involved with Jewish organizations in Toronto and Israel.
Through B’nai Tzedek, teenagers are able to establish an endowment fund in their own name with a minimum donation of $1,000. The fund will be invested with the other assets of the Foundation and then, each year the teens will donate a part of the income earned to organizations to which they feel personally connected.
This program has proven to be highly successful in many North American communities. It engages teens while they are young so that they will grow up as committed and active community members who enjoy a lifelong habit of tzedakah.
Our youth philanthropists get to hear presentations about projects needing funding and then decide how they want to distribute the money generated by their funds. By exposing teens to this outstanding learning process, they become actively involved in the business end of philanthropy and get to feel really good about their role in improving the world.
B’nai Tzedek is one more gift you can give to your children - it’s the gift of giving.
