The Philanthropy Forumwas created by the Jewish Foundation to provide educational programming for individuals and families about strategic philanthropy. Increasingly, philanthropists are interested in becoming more effective and impactful about their giving. Families are seeking knowledge about the best ways to give, measurements about effectiveness, and opportunities to engage all generations. Transmission of values is an important theme along with the transition of wealth.
The Forum offers programs for each generation, and when appropriate inter-generationally. Building on its experience and past programs, the Philanthropy Forum is moving towards more effective and strategic educational programs.
The Forum, under the capable leadership of Hinda Silber, has held a variety of engagements with speakers such as an evening with Dr. Jeffrey Solomon, President of the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Charitable Foundation, a breakfast panel discussion with Shira Herzog and Hilary Pearson, Philanthropic Foundations Canada (PFC), and an evening with Shira Herzog, Chair of PFC. In partnership with the Toronto Community Foundation, a program with Charles Bronfman and Jeffrey Solomon as coauthors of `The Art of Giving: Where the Soul Meets a Business Plan’ was held at the Toronto Public Library at Yonge and Bloor.
Future programming includes a special educational series for women on money management and philanthropy.
The Forum is partnering with B’nai Tzedek teens and their parents, to provide programs focusing on family philanthropy and strategic giving.
And finally, the Forum will continue to partner with other organizations on topics of mutual and broad interest to donors.
