Whether at home or in the community, we approach our relationships with each other, our children, our family, friends, colleagues, and community with respect, open hearts, and open minds. These principles guide us—not only in our commitment to philanthropy, but in our daily lives.
At the heart of our philanthropy is leading with empathy and giving with a purpose. We are interested in needs-based giving and have combined personal engagement with financial support at several community institutions, including UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, Bialik Hebrew Day School, Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, United Hatzalah, and Beit Halochem.
The first act of tzedakah we engaged in together was raising money for an ambulance for Magen David Adom in 2002. We both have a deep connection to Israel and the Jewish people, and share it with our sons David, Benjamin, and Aaron. Each of them has formed unique bonds with the community through their Jewish camp experiences, student advocacy, and volunteer work. We are so proud that they have begun their own journeys of philanthropy and trust they will continue to give back in meaningful ways.
It is our hope that by endowing a gift to the community, we will help to perpetuate these values and provide stable foundations for our institutions for years to come. Sustainable financial commitments—like our recently established fund at Jewish Free Loan Toronto—represent our desire to support programs in the community that help others help themselves. By lifting each other up we are all stronger.
