GIVING FUNDS—EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION OF PHILANTHROPISTS

Giving Funds are the Jewish Foundation’s donor advised fund for those under the age of 25. Through this program, young people are encouraged to discover the community causes they care about and learn about how they can affect positive change.

With a contribution of $500 or more, and no management fees, young philanthropists—or loved ones on their behalf—can open a Giving Fund at the Jewish Foundation. Family, friends, and the fundholders can make additional contributions to mark occasions like b’nai mitzvot, graduations, birthdays, holidays, and other milestones. The funds also grow over time through investments alongside the rest of the Foundation’s assets. Today, more than 200 young people are learning about tzedakah and helping make an impact in the Jewish community through the Giving Fund program—including the grandchildren of our Foundation chairs, Mike Diamond and Jack Frieberg.

“We opened Giving Funds for all our grandchildren, 16 of them in total between our families, to help teach them the same values of volunteerism and philanthropy that our parents and grandparents instilled in us,” said Jack. “It's important to us that they understand the importance of community involvement as a means to sustaining our thriving Jewish community. The Giving Fund program is an amazing introduction to those values—and experts, like Esther, offer so many opportunities to become further engaged and involved. We are excited to help our grandkids continue to grow and develop as the future leaders of our community.
