Hermann Leiningen

Hermann Leiningen is a managing director with the Royal Bank of Canada. With nearly four decades of experience across RBC Global Asset Management, Capital Markets, and Wealth Management, he has advised institutional and family office clients.

Beyond his career in finance, Hermann carries a remarkable heritage. Known formally as HSH Prince Hermann Friedrich zu Leiningen, he is related to many of Europe’s royal families. He is a direct descendant of Queen Victoria, tracing his lineage through her second-eldest son, Prince Alfred. This connection places him in the same generational tier as King Charles III, who descends from Queen Victoria through her eldest son, King Edward VII.

Throughout his life, Hermann has been a passionate storyteller of his family's pivotal role in history. He frequently speaks about his grandfather, King Boris III of Bulgaria, and the extraordinary courage demonstrated by the Bulgarian people, the church, and the monarchy in protecting Bulgaria's Jewish population during World War II—a profound chapter of history he will share with us this evening.

Hermann holds a bachelor of arts from Queen’s University. He and his wife, Deborah, have three daughters and five grandchildren.
