The Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto's Jewish Teen Board program is an educational experience open to teens in grades 9 through 11 that focuses on Jewish identity, leadership skills and philanthropy. Over the course of the academic year, teens will work together as a philanthropic foundation and:
Board members will identify issues in the community, determine funding priorities and meet with organizations leaders in order to decide how to take donation dollars and use them to bring change.
To provide teens with the power to make a difference through tzedakah and deepen their commitment to social action.
Engage Jewish teens in a lifelong relationship with tzedakah and tikkun olam and help cultivate future leaders within the Jewish community.
The program is an eight-month program and includes:
Participants can earn 40+ hours toward their high school community service requirements. In order for the program to be successful, board members are expected to participate in all aspects of the program.
The Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto is committed to supporting teen philanthropy and is honoured to be one of three communities selected by the Jewish Teen Funders Network to take part in the second cohort of The Foundation Board Incubator project generously funded by Laura Lauder and the Maimonides Fund. In addition, The Jewish Foundation welcomes the generous partnership and support of WOW!, an initiative of the Julia and Henry Koschitzky Centre for Jewish Education.
