We were both raised with Tzedakah being part of our daily family life. Both our families — mine from Montreal and Gerry's from Winnipeg — were always involved and taught us to care and contribute to the State of Israel and the Jewish community.
It may have started with giving a leaf or two in Kindergarten and Hebrew school. This leaf would be part of a tree planted in Israel. Eventually, you had enough to give a whole tree. Over the years, our roots and connection to Israel and the Jewish community have remained strong.
We are proud to be Jewish and feel fortunate that now we are in a position to give back in a more meaningful way to the community. Education and outreach in particular are important to us and we hope our contributions in these areas help nurture Jewish continuity for generations to come.
